Appendix B: Zone Models Quick Reference

11 power and heart rate zone models from Coggan, Friel, and more.

ENDURE supports 11 zone models across cycling power and heart rate. Here are the most common:

Coggan 7-Zone (Power, FTP-Based)

Zone Name % FTP
1 Recovery <55%
2 Endurance 56-75%
3 Tempo 76-88%
4 Threshold 89-104%
5 VO2max 105-120%
6 Anaerobic 121-150%
7 Neuromuscular >150%

G-Spot Zone

The G-Spot (gravel sweet spot) is 88-92% of FTP — the narrow band where FTP development is most efficient per unit of fatigue. This zone sits at the top of Tempo and the bottom of Threshold in the Coggan model.

Heart Rate Zone Models

Friel 5-Zone (LTHR) — Five heart rate zones based on Lactate Threshold Heart Rate. Widely used for running and cycling by heart rate.

Friel 7-Zone (LTHR) — Seven-zone version of the Friel heart rate model with finer granularity at threshold and above.

Olympiatoppen (Max HR) — Norwegian Olympic training center's heart rate zone system based on maximum heart rate.

Other Models

Coggan 6-Zone, British Cycling, Polarized, TrainerRoad, Zwift, TrainingPeaks 5-Zone — Platform-specific and federation power zone models. Each matches what you'd see on those platforms.

Custom — Define your own zone boundaries and names.

TrainerRoad, Zwift, TrainingPeaks — Platform-specific zone models that match what you'd see on those platforms.
